Physical Security Architect & Practice Lead
Role Summary
A senior Physical Security Architect & Practice Lead is responsible for providing strategic advisory and technical leadership in the design, implementation, and maintenance of physical security systems across a geographically dispersed branch network. This role involves developing comprehensive security technology roadmaps, establishing standards, and guiding large-scale infrastructure projects. The position requires a high level of expertise in enterprise-grade surveillance, network infrastructure, and physical security architecture, functioning as a trusted partner to security leadership and overseeing end-to-end solution delivery.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary advisor for physical security architecture to client security leadership, offering strategic guidance on security technology initiatives.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive physical security technology roadmap aligned with enterprise security strategies, regulatory requirements, and branch expansion plans.
- Lead the development of standards, reference architectures, and vendor assessments for physical security platforms and components.
- Provide technical direction on branch surveillance systems, including IP and analog camera deployment, DVR/NVR/MVR management, and Video Management System (VMS) integration.
- Define and enforce standards for camera placement, coverage, resolution, retention, and recording schedules tailored to different branch types.
- Guide Layer 1 wiring infrastructure design, specifying coaxial cables, grounding, and bonding practices consistent with NEC, TIA/EIA, and client standards.
- Collaborate with contractors, facilities teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure high-quality installation, testing, and commissioning of physical security network infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to signal degradation, grounding, and cable plant performance to optimize surveillance system operations.
- Maintain detailed documentation including system designs, diagrams, bills of materials, and standards guides.
- Mentor junior team members and coordinate with internal teams to deliver seamless solutions and technical support during branch assessments, site surveys, and project execution.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in physical security system architecture, design, and deployment within large-scale enterprise environments.
- Extensive hands-on expertise with surveillance technologies, including IP and analog cameras, DVR, NVR, and MVR solutions.
- Proven experience designing and implementing Layer 1 wiring infrastructure, including coaxial cable specification, termination, and testing.
- Strong knowledge of electrical grounding and bonding standards per NEC and TIA/EIA regulations.
- Experience with Video Management Systems such as Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon, or Honeywell.
- Ability to function effectively as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders in a consulting or practice leadership role.
- In compliance with federal law, all persons hired must verify their identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% domestically for site assessments and client engagements.
- Preferred experience in financial services or consumer banking security environments, with familiarity of regulatory frameworks such as FFIEC and OCC.
- Relevant certifications such as PSP, CPP, or BICSI RCDD are highly desirable.
- Knowledge of structured cabling beyond coaxial, such as Cat6/6A, and familiarity with cloud-based surveillance architecture and edge computing.
Publishing Pay Range: $60.00 – $80.00 USD Hourly
This is a fully remote role and can be performed from any approved location within the United States.
