Job Description:
Our client is hiring a highly skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join our team. This position involves a significant level of responsibility, including managing database changes across all environments, ensuring data integrity during loads and reloads, and providing on-call support for batch database-related jobs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database administration, particularly with DB2, and a proven track record of maintaining high levels of database performance and security. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team and contribute to the success of our projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement database table changes across all environments, including both development and production environments, to meet project requirements.
  • Conduct development environment data unloads/reloads as requested, ensuring comprehensive documentation is maintained.
  • Provide on-call support for any batch database-related jobs, including troubleshooting and coordinating with operations for job reruns.
  • Perform individual table reloads to temporary versions of the requested databases based on previously available backups.
  • Create and maintain DB2 table indices to optimize database performance.
  • Provide monthly DASD storage metrics based on current production reports to assist in capacity planning and performance tuning.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator, with specific experience in DB2 environments.
  • Strong understanding of database structure, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Ability to manage database changes across multiple environments effectively.
  • Experience with data unloads/reloads and the ability to document processes clearly.
  • Availability to provide on-call support for batch database-related issues.
  • Knowledge of creating and maintaining database indices.
  • Ability to provide accurate DASD storage metrics and reports.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
