SQL Developer
We are seeking a skilled SQL Developer to join our team and support the enhancement and maintenance of our Eligibility & Enrollment application. This role is crucial for ensuring the seamless operation of systems that serve Alabama Medicaid Agency, requiring a detail-oriented professional with strong technical expertise and a proactive approach to system development.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server-based applications, including stored procedures, triggers, and complex T-SQL scripts to meet evolving business requirements.
- Create and manage robust SSIS ETL packages and SSRS reports to facilitate data integration and reporting functions.
- Perform thorough testing of database procedures and ETL workflows, troubleshooting issues, and implementing effective solutions to ensure data accuracy and system reliability.
- Document all development work, including code, processes, and system configurations, to support ongoing maintenance and knowledge transfer.
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to provide timely status updates and contribute to project planning.
- Participate in systems analysis, providing technical insights to improve existing processes and incorporate new features.
- Assist in interviews and onboarding of new team members as needed.
- Support the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in SQL Server database development and software engineering.
- Proven expertise in T-SQL development, including advanced stored procedures, triggers, and SQL commands.
- Extensive experience with SSIS and SSRS for ETL and reporting solutions.
- Hands-on experience with database testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with the latest SQL Server versions and best practices.
- Strong understanding of data analysis, workflow assessments, and system integration.
- Experience with source control tools such as TFS or Azure DevOps.
- Knowledge of Agile Scrum methodologies and practical application in project environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Experience:
- Background in State Government, Medicaid, CHIP, DHR, or healthcare industry environments.
