Senior Software Engineer/Architect
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Software Engineer/Architect to join our team supporting enterprise observability and cloud infrastructure initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced software solutions that enhance system scalability, reliability, and monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and develop scalable, robust software solutions aligned with enterprise needs.
- Lead technical discussions and influence architectural decisions across projects.
- Write clean, efficient code addressing complex technical challenges.
- Develop and implement observability strategies utilizing Datadog for applications, infrastructure, and security monitoring.
- Design dashboards, monitors, and alerting systems tailored to operational requirements.
- Conduct thorough code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and promote best practices within the team.
- Deploy, configure, and optimize Datadog agents, integrations, and APIs across hybrid and multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, on-premises).
- Integrate Datadog with CI/CD pipelines, logging tools, and collaboration platforms like Slack, ServiceNow, and Jira.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues to improve system performance and reliability.
- Oversee end-to-end software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, stakeholders, and other engineering teams to ensure technical solutions meet business objectives.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and documentation to elevate team capabilities.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with an ability to adapt quickly to evolving technologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in large-scale, enterprise software environments.
- Extensive hands-on expertise with Datadog, including dashboards, integrations, APM, and distributed tracing.
- Proven background as a cloud DevOps or automation engineer with experience in AWS (preferred), Azure, or GCP.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, YAML, and automation via Lambda functions and shell scripting.
- Experience configuring Datadog for synthetic and infrastructure monitoring.
- Strong understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform.
- Hands-on experience with version control systems (Git, AWS CodeCommit, SVN) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of DevOps principles, automation, and deployment strategies.
- Excellent technical communication skills, capable of interfacing directly with customers and cross-functional teams.
Preferred:
- Datadog certifications, including APM and Distributed Tracing Fundamentals.
- Experience with Python scripting and DevSecOps practices.
- Previous work in innovative, modern engineering environments.
Pay Range: $95.00 – $100.00 hourly
This position offers a fully remote work environment within the Eastern or Western time zones, supporting a high-visibility federal program and the opportunity to influence enterprise-level observability strategy. Candidates must be prepared for a fast-paced interview process with technical and cultural assessments.
