Overview:
Join our team as a Data Center Technician, where you will be at the forefront of maintaining and enhancing our critical data center operations. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of data center telecommunications infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and compliance with federal standards.
- Lead the installation, configuration, and repair of telecommunications hardware, including structured cabling, switches, routers, and power distribution systems.
- Implement and refine proactive monitoring and maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and maximize system reliability.
- Analyze system performance trends, conduct root cause analysis during outages, and develop effective corrective action plans.
- Develop, update, and enforce standard operating procedures, integrating automation tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Manage physical security protocols, including strict access controls, audit procedures, and security compliance measures.
- Coordinate and lead outage recovery efforts, ensuring swift resolution and minimal impact on operations.
- Forecast future resource and equipment needs, manage lifecycle of hardware assets, and ensure scalable infrastructure growth.
- Mentor and train junior technicians, fostering a culture of technical mastery, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain detailed documentation of equipment configurations, maintenance activities, and system changes within DCIM systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, supplemented by at least 8 years of relevant experience.
- In-depth knowledge of Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), power distribution, electrical safety standards, and electrical protocols.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage complex projects and cross-functional teams effectively.
- Extensive experience in copper and fiber optic cabling termination, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure in demanding environments.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined or high-access areas.
- Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including weekends and on-call rotations, to support 24/7 operations.
- Must be eligible for an active Secret clearance.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency with environmental monitoring and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platforms.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including IP addressing and cabling standards.
- Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) tools such as ServiceNow or Remedy.
Publishing Pay Range: $32.00 – $35.00 Hourly
