We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated RDS Engineer to join our IT team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and Windows Server environments that support seamless, secure, and scalable remote access for our users. Key Responsibilities
- Design & Architecture: Develop comprehensive, high-availability, and scalable RDS infrastructure solutions aligned with organizational needs.
- Migration & Upgrade: Lead and execute the meticulous upgrade of existing RDS environments from Windows Server 2012 to Windows Server 2019, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
- System Management: Oversee all RDS components, including RD Connection Broker, RD Gateway, RD Web Access, and RD Session Host, to deliver reliable remote access services.
- High Availability & Performance Optimization: Configure and manage clustering, load balancing, and failover strategies to guarantee uninterrupted connectivity and optimal user experience.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Resolve complex technical issues related to connectivity, performance bottlenecks, and application delivery with a focus on quick resolution and root cause analysis.
- Infrastructure Administration: Maintain and support Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Automation & Scripting: Develop and deploy PowerShell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks, streamline deployment processes, and enforce configuration standards.
- Security & Compliance: Implement industry-leading security practices, including timely patching, hardening, certificate management, and adherence to compliance requirements.
- Documentation & Collaboration: Maintain detailed system documentation and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Provide Level 3 support and guidance, acting as a go-to technical resource for RDS-specific challenges.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with 5-8 years (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5 years of direct experience managing Microsoft RDS environments.
- Proven experience in upgrading and migrating RDS infrastructures from Windows Server 2012 to Windows Server 2019.
- Strong proficiency in Windows Server administration (2012, 2016, 2019).
- Extensive knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and virtualization technologies.
- Demonstrated expertise in PowerShell scripting for automation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
- Current Network+ certification or higher.
- Willingness to work in a hybrid environment (1-3 days onsite weekly).
Preferred:
- Prior experience working with U.S. government clients or military metrics.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications such as MCSE: Core Infrastructure, MCSA: Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, or Azure certifications.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
- Security+ certification or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and cloud integration.
- Knowledge of load balancing, network infrastructure, and performance tuning.
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and time management skills.
