Join our team as a Senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) Computer Systems Engineer/Architect. You will serve as a strategic technical leader, shaping and guiding enterprise-wide automation, security, and compliance initiatives within complex, security-sensitive environments. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence modernization efforts, develop cutting-edge automation frameworks, and ensure mission-critical system resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Lead the design, development, and implementation internal platform systems, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and future growth plans.
- Enterprise Automation & Governance: Define and enforce enterprise-wide automation standards, security protocols, and compliance policies across heterogeneous systems. Establish architecture governance practices and develop authoritative documentation for operational standards.
- Modernization & Integration: Spearhead large-scale modernization projects, including platform transformations, cloud integrations, and the adoption of DevOps practices to enhance agility and scalability.
- Operational Support & Troubleshooting: Provide Tier-3 escalation support for complex technical issues impacting mission-critical systems. Offer strategic guidance and troubleshooting expertise to resolve critical incidents swiftly.
- Security & Compliance: Develop and oversee enterprise patch management strategies, ensuring adherence to DoD and USCG mandates. Influence security and compliance posture through robust automation and continuous monitoring.
- Automation Frameworks & Best Practices: Architect scalable, resilient automation solutions. Promote and enforce best practices surrounding automation, security, and system resilience in all engineering activities.
- Innovation & Roadmap Development: Collaborate with organizational stakeholders to shape the automation roadmap, integrating new technologies and fostering continuous improvement.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain comprehensive documentation covering architecture, operational procedures, governance policies, and automation standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Experience: 12+ years of relevant experience
- Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance required.
- Certifications: DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+).
- Technical Skills:
- Proven expertise platform administration, upgrades, and implementation.
- Strong scripting skills in NSH (Network Shell), Python, Bash, Java, and PowerShell for automation and customization.
- Extensive experience with server patch management across Windows and Unix/Linux environments.
- Deep knowledge of Windows and Linux server OS administration.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Preferred Skills:
- Experience supporting DoD or U.S. Coast Guard environments.
- TSSA (TrueSight Server Automation)
- Familiarity with Oracle or SQL Server databases.
- Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Understanding of DevOps principles and CI/CD tools.
Publishing Pay Range: $65.00 – $70.00 Hourly
