Role Summary
This contract CAD Technician position is a mid-level technical role focused on supporting Substation Engineering through document management and drawing revisions. The role involves updating existing drawings, creating new construction packages, and developing 3D models, primarily within an office environment. The technician collaborates with engineering and field personnel to ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation for electrical substation projects.
Responsibilities
- Revise existing drawings based on field corrections and updated project information under the guidance of the Document Manager.
- Assist in creating and publishing Issued for Construction (IFC) drawing packages for new and existing substations.
- Gather technical data and update drawings for ongoing projects to ensure current documentation.
- Develop 3D material-coded parts for electrical substation models using Autodesk Vault 3D parts library.
- Generate accurate single-line and substation standard drawings in compliance with company standards.
- Support document workflow by managing internal and external vendor drawings and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering analysts and field personnel to facilitate effective communication and documentation updates.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy and detail, self-checking work for errors before submission.
- Participate in optional field visits for training purposes, gaining practical insights into substation construction and maintenance.
- Follow established procedures for document control and version management within Autodesk Vault.
Qualifications
- Education or training in Autodesk CAD products is required, with preferred experience in CAD software.
- Several years of CAD experience are preferred; however, recent graduates in related technology fields will be considered.
- Proficiency in Autodesk CAD software and MS Office suite is mandatory.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
- Ability to work independently with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Customer service orientation and team collaboration skills are a plus.
- Ability to accept guidance and perform quality checks on work.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Publishing Pay Range: $38.00 – $40.00 Hourly
This position is based in the office and requires employee to work on-site.
