Role Summary
This role involves managing and troubleshooting complex network systems within a highly technical environment. Responsible for investigating network issues, recreating problems in lab settings, and verifying vendor solutions. The position requires proactive development of scripts and tools to identify defects, recover networks non-intrusively, and analyze forensic data to prevent future disruptions. The role also encompasses managing vendor relationships, planning for technology integration, and ensuring smooth network operations through detailed testing, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and manage follow-up activities to determine root causes of network issues and verify vendor fixes or design changes for implementation.
- Develop scripts to identify defect signatures and define non-intrusive recovery processes for network stability.
- Manage equipment and software vendor relationships, including tracking objectives and providing feedback during maintenance contract negotiations.
- Plan and prepare for the integration of new technology, including reviewing lab designs, and testing equipment and software certification.
- Create troubleshooting guides and deliver knowledge transfer to support team members on new network designs and technologies.
- Gather and analyze network element data to validate improvements and assess the impact of field changes.
- Perform risk management related to the deployment of new network technology and assist with troubleshooting and acceptance of new IT services.
- Utilize network diagnostic tools for fault management, configuration, performance, and security monitoring.
- Conduct network performance analysis, capacity planning, and evaluate configuration options to optimize network health.
- Lead or support technical initiatives, providing expertise and guidance to less experienced personnel.
Qualifications
- Proven ability to work with Cisco routers and switches, including IOS configuration, upgrades, and replacements.
- Strong knowledge of routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, GDOI, IPSEC, GetVPN, multicast, ACLs, and GRE tunnels.
- Experience with Layer 1 and Layer 2 technologies including T1, T3, OC3, frame relay, satellite, microwave, wireless, and protocol analysis.
- Solid understanding of network design, analysis, and implementation practices.
- Familiarity with Ethernet circuits, dot1Q encapsulation, RF, and signaling techniques.
- Excellent documentation and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to create detailed guides and procedures.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and technical leadership capabilities.
- This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
Publishing Pay Range: $40.00 – $45.00 USD Hourly
