Role Summary
This position entails providing technical leadership, architecture guidance, and hands-on expertise in physical security systems. The role is responsible for assessing, designing, and standardizing physical security infrastructure to ensure scalability, resilience, and future readiness. The engineer or consultant collaborates closely with project managers and stakeholders to deliver secure, compliant, and integrated security solutions across various locations.
Responsibilities
- Review and validate existing physical security architecture, including access control platforms, video surveillance systems, and door hardware.
- Assist in defining global physical security standards, encompassing reference architectures, technology stack alignment, and design principles for scalability and resiliency.
- Identify gaps, limitations, or risks in current platform selections and recommend mitigations or improvements.
- Support assessments of legacy locations to determine standardization, upgrade, replacement, or remediation needs.
- Evaluate site conditions, system configurations, and integration points to inform security architecture decisions.
- Provide technical input into prioritization and remediation strategies for security infrastructure.
- Review construction and design documents to ensure security requirements are incorporated from early stages.
- Offer technical guidance to maintain consistency across global locations and support security system integrations with enterprise networks, identity management, and HR systems.
- Validate alignment of physical security designs with IT security, network, and compliance standards.
- Review vendor proposals, designs, and implementation approaches, ensuring compliance with architectural standards and customer expectations.
- Assist in troubleshooting complex technical issues during deployment phases and provide remote architecture validation and advisory support.
- Support the internal technical team actively working on security system design to facilitate knowledge sharing and technical oversight.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in physical network security technology planning, design, and consulting within the private sector.
- U.S. citizen with full working rights.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in technology-related fields preferred.
- Professional or technical certification in physical security or networking technologies.
- Proven expertise in physical security architecture, deployment, and system assessments.
- Strong understanding of access control, video surveillance, and supporting infrastructure.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong communication skills for technical review, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
- Availability for flexible working hours aligned with project demands.
Publishing Pay Range: $60.00 – $70.00 Hourly
This position offers a fully remote work environment and can be performed from an approved location.
