Role Summary
A senior data center network engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable and highly available network fabrics within data center environments. This role requires deep expertise in Cisco Nexus platforms, VXLAN, EVPN architectures, and advanced networking technologies. The senior engineer will lead the configuration, validation, and troubleshooting of complex data center networks to ensure optimal performance and seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Configure and deploy Cisco Nexus 9000 (N9K) switches for data center environments.
- Build and manage VXLAN/EVPN fabrics utilizing Nexus Dashboard Fabric Controller (NDFC).
- Perform base network configurations including VLANs, trunking, VPC, and LACP.
- Configure and validate Layer 2/Layer 3 services such as SVIs and routing protocols (OSPF).
- Implement VRFs, tenant policies, and overlay networks to support multi-tenant environments.
- Design, configure, and validate spine-leaf architecture and fabric connectivity.
- Ensure proper integration of network fabrics with upstream and downstream network components.
- Troubleshoot network issues and optimize network performance and connectivity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support data center expansion and upgrades.
- Document network designs, configurations, and operational procedures for ongoing maintenance.
Qualifications
- Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco Nexus 9000 (N9K) platforms.
- Strong knowledge of VXLAN and EVPN network architectures.
- Proven experience with Nexus Dashboard Fabric Controller (NDFC).
- Solid understanding of data center networking fundamentals and fabric design.
- Ability to configure and validate end-to-end network fabrics in complex environments.
- Experience with multi-site VXLAN or data center interconnect (preferred).
- Familiarity with automation or templating within NDFC (desirable).
- Cisco certifications such as CCNP Data Center or CCIE Data Center are preferred.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work on-site in a fast paced data center environment.
Publishing Pay Range: $70.00 – $75.00 USD Hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
