SD-WAN Engineer
Role Summary
This position involves supporting the design, implementation, and management of Software-Defined Wide Area Networks (SD-WAN) in a remote setting. The SD-WAN Engineer will play a vital role in optimizing network performance, ensuring security compliance, and maintaining connectivity across multiple locations. The role requires coordination with customer personnel and internal teams, supporting ongoing network operations, and providing technical expertise on SD-WAN solutions and security infrastructure. An active Secret security clearance is mandatory, with optional travel limited to 2-5 nights per month.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage SD-WAN solutions to optimize connectivity and network reliability.
- Configure and update network devices, including SD-WAN appliances, firewalls, routers, and switches.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and resolve incidents promptly.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external clients to assess network needs and deliver technical support.
- Oversee deployment, maintenance, and security compliance of network infrastructure.
- Develop and document diagnostic procedures and best practices for network operations and troubleshooting.
- Conduct testing to verify network performance within the client environment.
- Assist with open support tickets and coordinate resolution with support teams.
- Maintain accurate inventory of hardware and software versions, and support software upgrade procedures.
- Provide ongoing knowledge transfer and training on network configurations and operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
- Professional experience with SD-WAN technologies and network security practices.
- Certifications in FortiGate Firewalls, SD-WAN, and relevant networking solutions.
- Demonstrated expertise with Secure SD-WAN technologies, Nexus switches, and Palo Alto or Firepower firewalls.
- Working knowledge of Cisco Wireless Controllers, Cisco Routers & Switches, and Cisco DNA.
- Ability to troubleshoot VPNs, analyze logs, and debug network issues.
- Proficiency with Cherwell for ticket management and support documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.
- Availability to travel 2-5 nights per month as needed.
Publishing Pay Range: $80.00 – $87.92 hourly
This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
