Role Summary
This enterprise infrastructure engineer role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems within a virtualized data center environment. The position requires a seasoned professional responsible for performance optimization, disaster recovery planning, and system troubleshooting. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and mentorship of junior staff are integral to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of enterprise systems and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the virtual data center, including performance tuning, software updates, and system implementations.
- Oversee server operating systems, database platforms, virtual host hardware, and virtual environments.
- Develop and execute plans for new data center systems, applications, and custom scripting to enhance system dependability.
- Design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity procedures, including disaster simulation exercises.
- Document deployment processes, system upgrades, and recovery procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Troubleshoot level three issues related to workstations, peripherals, and enterprise applications.
- Use management tools to deploy, monitor, and debug desktop and enterprise applications across the organization.
- Adhere to change management processes by documenting and controlling system modifications to maintain a stable environment.
- Provide technical guidance and training to staff on new hardware and software solutions.
- Collaborate with teams to achieve departmental goals and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Qualifications
- Seven or more years of experience in IT systems administration, with a focus on enterprise infrastructure.
- Extensive knowledge of virtual environments, including VMware vSphere, vCenter, and host hardware management.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Server OS, SQL database administration, and enterprise collaboration tools such as Exchange and Citrix.
- Strong understanding of network security, disaster recovery, and business continuity best practices.
- Current industry-standard certifications such as VCP6-DCV, MCSE, CASP, or CCA-V are preferred.
- A college degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Ability to work in a hybrid schedule, combining in-office and remote work.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaborative skills.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Publishing Pay Range: $45.00 – $52.00 Hourly
This is a hybrid position and can be performed from an approved location.
