Role Summary
This role involves the decommissioning and removal of laboratory equipment, racks, and cabling within a technical environment. It requires a detail-oriented individual capable of systematically dismantling hardware, managing cabling workflows, and supporting asset documentation. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to lab decommissioning projects in a structured and safety-compliant manner.
Responsibilities
- Uninstall laboratory equipment from test bays and staging areas, ensuring proper handling and safety protocols.
- Dismantle and unbolt 2-post and 4-post racks, preparing equipment for disposal or repurposing.
- Identify and safely remove unused or abandoned cabling from raised floor spaces, tracing cables as far as practical until obstructed or reaching active cabinets.
- Conduct organized, row-by-row removal and cleaning of cabling and equipment within the lab environment.
- Collect decommissioned assets, place them onto pallets, and assist with basic serial number tracking for inventory management.
- Remove unused peripheral equipment and cardboard from lab floors, storing items securely on pallets.
- Document the cleanup process with photographs and written records, including asset disposition details.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace throughout all stages of decommissioning activities.
- Follow safety and lab access protocols in accordance with site policies and procedures.
- Complete Jira tickets for assigned tasks, providing updates and follow-up as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in laboratory or technical equipment decommissioning, equipment removal, or similar roles.
- Ability to handle tools for unbolting and dismantling racks and hardware.
- Familiarity with cable management, including identifying, removing, and safely handling cabling and wiring.
- Capable of documenting equipment and cabling status with photographs and written records.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and move equipment and pallets, adhering to safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills for documenting processes and coordinating with team members.
- Must be available to work on-site at the designated location.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and work within a controlled environment.
- Available for potentially physically intensive tasks, including lifting, bending, and crawling under raised floors.
Publishing Pay Range: $35.00 – $40.00 Hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
