Role Summary
This on-site Business Analyst role is a contract position within an educational department, focusing on bridging the gap between business units and IT. The incumbent will analyze operational processes, gather and document requirements, and facilitate communication to support the development and implementation of technological solutions. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to process redesign, technological advancements, and operational efficiency within a government agency environment.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison between business units, the business community, and the IT organization to gather and document technical requirements.
- Analyze operational processes to identify opportunities for automation and process improvements.
- Assist in redesigning business processes and documenting workflows for new technology implementations.
- Translate high-level business requirements into detailed functional specifications for IT development.
- Manage changes to specifications and ensure alignment with business needs throughout project lifecycle.
- Educate IT teams on evolving business strategies and operational objectives.
- Facilitate effective communication between business and IT stakeholders from initial requirements to final deployment.
- Stay informed on current technological trends and assess their applicability to enhance business operations.
- Make strategic recommendations regarding buy vs. build decisions for technological solutions.
- Support project management activities, including coordinating tasks and tracking progress across multiple initiatives.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of current developments in information technology applications, including software and hardware packages.
- Experience with standalone and client/server applications within Windows environments.
- Proficiency with database systems, current software tools, and project management methodologies.
- Strong problem analysis skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for professional interaction with diverse groups, including executives and subject matter experts.
- Ability to independently manage project activities and coordinate team efforts.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access) and Visio.
- Strong analytical skills with experience producing reports and making business recommendations.
- Ability to adapt to changing demands and continuously learn emerging technological trends.
- Availability to work on-site full-time.
Experience
- At least two (2) years of experience in data analysis, producing reports, and making business recommendations.
- Three (3) years of experience in business process analysis, defining system requirements, and preparing system specifications.
Publishing Pay Range: $28.00 – $30.00 Hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
