We are seeking an experienced and motivated Data Scientist to lead cutting-edge AI pilot initiatives supporting our defense and healthcare clients. This role is fully remote, offering the opportunity to work on impactful projects that leverage artificial intelligence to improve operational efficiency, automate workflows, and support decision-making in secure government environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Deploy AI/ML Solutions: Develop practical machine learning models and AI prototypes tailored to mission-critical government use cases such as workflow automation, document processing, and decision-support analytics.
- Data Processing & Integration: Build robust Python-based data ingestion, transformation, and modeling pipelines. Integrate diverse data sources and APIs to enable seamless end-to-end analytical workflows across legacy and modern systems.
- Automation & Workflow Development: Create automation workflows using tools like Microsoft Power Automate to optimize data movement and operational processes.
- Operational Data Preparation: Clean, organize, and structure complex datasets to support meaningful analysis and accurate model training.
- Collaborate & Translate Needs: Work closely with technical teams, program leaders, and stakeholders to translate operational challenges into technical solutions and prototypes.
- Pilot to Production: Support the transition of successful pilots into scalable, production-ready solutions, documenting technical architecture and data flows to facilitate sustainment and knowledge transfer.
- Maintain Security & Compliance: Ensure all solutions adhere to government security standards, especially within regulated environments.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- 3–6 years of hands-on experience in data science, applied AI, or analytics driven roles.
- Proficiency in Python, including experience developing data pipelines, machine learning models, and API integrations.
- Experience with workflow automation tools such as Microsoft Power Automate.
- Demonstrated ability to develop or deploy AI/ML systems, including predictive analytics, NLP, or large language models.
- Skilled in working with REST APIs and integrating multiple data sources to create cohesive solutions.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate operational challenges into technical designs.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
- Readiness to attend on-site meetings in Rosslyn, VA as needed.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure AI/ML services, Azure Government, or AWS GovCloud.
- Knowledge of MLOps practices, including model deployment, lifecycle management, and continuous integration.
- Prior work supporting government agencies, healthcare systems, or regulated environments.
- Experience working in Agile teams focused on rapid prototyping and iterative development.
Publishing Pay Range: $58.00 – $60.00 Hourly
