As a subject matter expert in Power Engineering, you will play a critical role in driving technical excellence, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and developing innovative solutions that support our strategic goals in the natural gas and petrochemical sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and strategic direction on complex electrical engineering projects of significant scope and complexity.
- Lead the development, implementation, and refinement of technical standards, specifications, and best practices related to electrical systems, including area classification and grounding design.
- Conduct comprehensive power system analyses such as short-circuit, load flow, arc flash hazard, harmonic distortion, and transient motor start studies to optimize system performance and safety.
- Serve as the company’s licensed Professional Engineer (PE), representing the organization in industry forums, regulatory bodies, and certification processes.
- Oversee the evaluation of engineering packages to ensure full compliance with applicable standards, codes, and project requirements.
- Lead initiatives to enhance electrical system reliability, including root cause analysis, preventive maintenance (PM) optimization, and advanced system studies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new technologies, improve existing processes, and address future customer needs.
- Champion safety standards and safety compliance, ensuring strict adherence to OSHA, DOT, and company policies.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical issues across various systems and equipment, providing expert guidance, training, and support to field engineers.
- Design and implement preventive maintenance programs that maximize equipment lifespan and operational uptime.
- Develop strategies for high-impact or high-risk projects and influence industry trends that align with business objectives.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations to senior management and external stakeholders to influence decision-making and promote best practices.
- Handle resource planning, project ROI analysis, and driving continuous improvement in electrical reliability performance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field from an accredited institution; or a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology with PE certification.
- A minimum of 20 years of relevant engineering experience within the natural gas or petrochemical industry.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.
- Proven expertise in power system design, analysis, and reliability strategies.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and safety leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software tools.
- Preferred: Project management experience and familiarity with industry regulations and compliance frameworks.
