The Project Engineer is a key technical leader responsible for overseeing multiple phases of engineering projects within asset integrity maintenance, including integrity digs, cathodic protection system remediation, and corrosion mitigation. This role involves coordinating project activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving continuous improvement across project lifecycle processes. The position requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and safety focus to deliver successful project outcomes within scope, schedule, and budget.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute engineering strategies to meet project objectives while adhering to company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure technical deliverables meet quality and safety expectations.
- Manage technical content of purchase orders, RFI responses, and project documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Lead project meetings, present technical information, and facilitate discussions with team members and clients.
- Monitor project progress, control costs and resources, and implement technical improvements as needed.
- Collaborate to develop commissioning plans, close projects, and ensure proper documentation of files, records, and drawings.
- Provide technical expertise during project standards reviews and contribute to the development of best practices for integrity maintenance.
- Address project technical issues, resolve complex problems, and support contractors in aligning project execution with design and safety standards.
- Ensure project quality, safety standards, and regulations such as PHMSA codes are incorporated into all phases of work.
- Support continuous learning and process improvements related to engineering workflows, constructability practices, and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry, including at least two (2) years in asset integrity, cathodic protection, or corrosion mitigation projects.
- Proven ability to manage technical projects with minimal risk and resource requirements.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and safety awareness skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and PC-based tools.
- In-depth knowledge of engineering design principles, project lifecycle management, and construction practices relevant to integrity maintenance.
- Familiarity with industry standards, repair techniques, and regulatory requirements such as PHMSA codes 192 and 195.
- Experience interpreting engineering deliverables and managing procurement and contract administration.
- Knowledge of NDT technologies and project controls, estimating practices, and industry best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
Publishing Pay Range: $50.00 – $60.00 Hourly
This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
