The Mainframe Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring the optimal operation, security, and integrity of our enterprise mainframe environment. This role involves operating, monitoring, and maintaining mainframe systems, peripherals, servers, and network components to support business-critical applications. The administrator will participate in disaster recovery planning and testing, provide first-level help desk support, and adapt to diverse operational duties within customized data centers. Collaboration with network engineers and system security teams is essential to maintain seamless, secure, and efficient system performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain mainframe systems, peripherals, and related infrastructure to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Assist in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution to safeguard data and ensure business continuity.
  • Provide first-level help desk support, troubleshooting user issues related to mainframe applications and systems.
  • Manage system security functions, including user access, permissions, and security policies.
  • Maintain comprehensive system documentation, including configuration, procedures, and operational logs.
  • Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize efficiency.
  • Install, upgrade, and patch system-wide software and applications.
  • Collaborate with network engineers and security teams to support integrated system operations.
  • Develop and enforce policies and standards for resource allocation and system usage.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards for data security and operational excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working in a mainframe environment is required.
  • Proficiency with mainframe operating systems, hardware, and peripherals.
  • Exposure to IDMS or similar database management systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AGILE methodologies and practices is advantageous.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to fast-paced, evolving operational environments.

Publishing Pay Range: $27.00 – $32.00 hourly
