The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to lead the development, optimization, and management of complex data pipelines and platforms. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to enable advanced analytics, drive data-driven insights, and support strategic initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python, SQL, and modern ETL tools to ensure efficient data flow and integrity.
  • Optimize database performance and write complex SQL queries, including joins, window functions, and aggregations, for both transactional and analytical purposes.
  • Translate stored procedures and data models into robust Python code, ensuring maintainability and scalability.
  • Build and maintain APIs, including GraphQL, to support data integration and application needs.
  • Collaborate with frontend teams to develop interactive dashboards and visualizations using React, TypeScript, and tools like Highcharts, Recharts, and AG Grid.
  • Implement caching strategies with Redis to improve performance and responsiveness of data services.
  • Work in an Agile environment, participating in sprint planning, code reviews, and daily standups to deliver high-quality solutions efficiently.
  • Leverage cloud and containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and Snowflake to ensure scalable and secure data infrastructure.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies to continuously improve systems and processes.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Python Development (Advanced): pandas, Polars, NumPy, Jupyter Notebooks, data pipeline design, object-oriented programming, pytest.
  • SQL & Data Modeling (Advanced): complex SQL, data warehouse concepts, performance tuning, translating stored procedures into Python.
  • GraphQL (Intermediate): constructing and optimizing queries, API integration.
  • Frontend & Visualization (Intermediate-Advanced): React, TypeScript, Next.js, Highcharts/Recharts, AG Grid, Tailwind CSS, PDF report generation.
  • Caching & Performance: Redis implementation, cache invalidation, performance profiling.

Highly Desired Skills:

  • Financial services experience: understanding investment positions, P&L, NAV, valuations.
  • Data orchestration tools: Airflow, Astronomer, Luigi, JAMS.
  • API development: REST/GraphQL APIs.
  • Version control and collaboration: Git workflows, code reviews.
  • Agile methodologies: sprint planning, story estimation.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Knowledge of Geneva Investment Management System and custodian data formats (StateStreet, BNY Mellon).
  • Java experience to better understand backend APIs/integrations.
  • Cloud and container experience: AWS, Snowflake, Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Workflow orchestration tools: Camunda, others.
  • ETL tools: Microsoft SSIS, SSRS, or similar.
  • Financial reporting UI development and PDF generation.
Pay Rate: $70.00 – $75.00 Hourly
