This position involves providing advanced technical support and operational control of complex voice, data telecommunications, and LAN/WAN network systems. The role demands expertise in installation, troubleshooting, testing, and maintenance of telecom and network equipment, as well as on-site power systems. It includes a leadership component, guiding less-experienced technicians and ensuring the reliable performance of telecommunications assets.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operational control and maintenance of large-scale voice, data, and telecommunications systems.
  • Install, troubleshoot, test, and maintain telecom and network equipment, including LAN/WAN infrastructure.
  • Manage on-site DC power systems such as batteries, rectifiers, generators, fuse panels, solar panels, and grounding systems.
  • Coordinate with SCADA, Gas Control, Network Services, local operations, and external partners to ensure system reliability.
  • Collaborate with Telecommunications Engineers and Specialists to optimize network performance and asset management.
  • Monitor network performance through specialized software and hardware tools; diagnose complex issues impacting network operations.
  • Lead testing and analysis of network components, including power, software, communication devices, lines, and modems.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and leadership to less-experienced network control technicians.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, including working in confined spaces, elevated positions, and with heavy equipment.
  • Support after-hours on-call responsibilities, including night shifts, weekends, and travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; technical or trade school certification, military electronics training preferred.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in telecommunications, operations, or maintenance roles.
  • Associate’s or technical degree in electronics, or related military electronics training preferred.
  • Valid FCC license, telecommunications certificate, or related certification preferred.
  • Valid State Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general PC skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of communication services such as TCP/IP, Ethernet, Fiber Optics, T1, and Wireless networks.
  • Preferred experience with Cisco routers, switches, access points, and network security.
  • Industry experience in pipeline operations, utilities, or similar sectors is advantageous.
  • Ability to work in extreme environments, lift heavy loads, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Willingness to travel locally and occasionally overnight for work-related assignments.
  • Must be available for 24-hour call-out, after-hours, and holiday shifts, including overtime as necessary.

Publishing Pay Range: $70,000.00 – $95,000.00 annually 

This is an on-site position and requires the employee to work in the office.
