A senior-level Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) is required to oversee enterprise-scale database environments, both on-premises and in the cloud. The role involves managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting SQL Server instances, supporting open-source databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB, and ensuring high availability and performance in a dynamic, fast-paced setting. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in virtualized infrastructures, cloud platforms, and DevOps automation to ensure reliable database operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain SQL Server databases across development, testing, and production environments, including disaster recovery and capacity planning.
  • Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and support SQL Server instances following company standards.
  • Support and administer PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases within production environments; exposure to other RDBMS platforms is advantageous.
  • Conduct database backups, restores, disaster recovery tests, and monitor performance metrics.
  • Troubleshoot SQL Server issues related to performance, connectivity, blocking, and availability; implement solutions for high availability configurations.
  • Support Always-On Availability Groups, failover clustering, Distributed Availability Groups, and other HA/DR technologies to ensure database resilience.
  • Develop automation scripts using T-SQL, PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or similar tools for routine maintenance and operational workflows.
  • Support database deployment and management across Azure and AWS cloud platforms.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams on database deployment, security, and optimization within DevOps pipelines.
  • Handle incident management through ticketing systems, providing real-time support for operational issues, deployments, and emergency tasks; participate in standards development and process improvements.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA with deep expertise in SQL Server 2016–2022; familiarity with SQL Server 2025 is a plus.
  • Proven experience managing PostgreSQL or MongoDB in production environments.
  • Hands-on experience supporting databases within Azure and AWS cloud platforms.
  • Strong understanding of high availability technologies including Always-On Availability Groups and Distributed Availability Groups.
  • Experience administering SQL Server in virtualized environments such as VMware; familiarity with Zerto is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages including T-SQL and PowerShell; exposure to Python and Ansible preferred.
  • Availability to work in an on-site environment with reliable work rights.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams and communicate technical information clearly.

Publishing Pay Range: $40.00 – $50.00 Hourly

This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
