A senior AWS Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining ETL solutions within an enterprise data environment. This role requires extensive experience in data integration, transformation, and ingestion from diverse sources, with a focus on leveraging advanced SQL and cloud-based tools. The position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance data workflows and support data-driven decision-making using the latest AI-enabled tools.
Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and maintain ETL pipelines to ingest data from various sources including files, databases, and streaming platforms.
- Utilize advanced SQL skills, primarily SQL Server 2019, for data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.
- Design and implement solutions using SSIS, Visual Studio, and GIT for version control and collaboration.
- Integrate AI-powered tools like Microsoft Copilot to streamline development and improve data analysis efficiency.
- Work with cloud services, particularly AWS, to support data ingestion, transformation, and storage in Amazon S3 and related services.
- Apply metadata-driven methodologies to create dynamic and scalable ETL processes.
- Collaborate with data teams to troubleshoot and debug code, maintaining code quality and performance.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise data governance and security standards.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to facilitate data architecture improvements and optimize workflows.
- Stay current with industry trends in data engineering, cloud computing, and AI technology advancements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in data-centered development, primarily using on-prem SQL Server environments.
- Proven expertise in SQL, SSIS, Visual Studio, and GIT.
- Hands-on experience with AWS data engineering, including data ingestion, transformation, and integration with services like Amazon S3.
- Knowledge of AI-enabled tools, such as Microsoft Copilot or similar, to enhance productivity.
- Experience with Azure DevOps or equivalent version control systems.
- Strong understanding of metadata-driven dynamic ETL processes.
- Familiarity with ingesting multiple data sources, including fixed-width files, sub-record files, CSV files, Oracle databases, and Kafka.
- Excellent debugging and code maintenance skills in Visual Studio with C#.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote work environment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Availability to work according to project deadlines and team schedules.
Publishing Pay Range: $70.00 – $79.11 hourly
This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
