This remote technical engineering role involves managing and optimizing web systems, primarily focusing on WebSphere application environments. The position requires a senior-level engineer responsible for performance tuning, system administration, and troubleshooting critical issues within a Windows-based infrastructure. Candidates should possess extensive experience in web application deployment, server management, and performance analysis, ensuring efficient and reliable web operations across diverse technical environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform WebSphere application tuning and scripting optimization to enhance system performance.
  • Design and execute comprehensive performance testing to identify bottlenecks and optimize application efficiency.
  • Conduct system administration tasks within a Windows environment, including deployment, upgrades, and maintenance of web applications.
  • Analyze complex operational issues through technical root cause analysis and develop innovative corrective actions.
  • Utilize WebSphere Performance Monitoring Interfaces and IBM Liberty to monitor and evaluate system performance metrics.
  • Manage messaging architectures such as WebSphere MQ, ensuring smooth communication between distributed components.
  • Implement and support J2EE applications using frameworks like Spring, Struts, and MyBatis.
  • Instrument Java classes and analyze performance data to optimize application responsiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, provide technical guidance, and implement solutions.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and performance improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in web systems environments, including application installation, upgrades, and deployment.
  • Proven expertise with WebSphere Application Server, including tuning and performance monitoring tools.
  • Experience with IBM Liberty and JBoss app server environments.
  • Strong knowledge of messaging architectures, particularly WebSphere MQ.
  • Proficiency in Java/J2EE development, with experience in frameworks such as Spring, Struts, or MyBatis.
  • Skilled in scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Grinder, with proficiency in Java, C, or C#.
  • Deep understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting with a strategic mindset and high sense of urgency.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.

Publishing Pay Range: $60.00 – $65.00 USD Hourly

This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
