Role Summary
A highly technical and hands-on network maintenance specialist responsible for executing scheduled network changes during designated maintenance windows. This role involves performing complex logical network modifications, hardware replacements, device migrations, and remediation activities across multiple network environments. The position requires close collaboration with administrative and engineering teams to ensure precise, safe, and efficient execution of network maintenance procedures within a remote work setting.
Responsibilities
- Execute network “cuts” by performing all logical changes and configurations as specified in approved Methods of Procedure (MOPs).
- Manage routing, switching, transport, device swaps, and service-impacting steps with accuracy and adherence to established standards.
- Validate pre- and post-change conditions to ensure service continuity and compliance with acceptance criteria.
- Participate actively in nightly maintenance bridges, providing live updates, confirming steps, and escalating issues when deviations occur.
- Collaborate closely with CUT Admins, engineering teams, and stakeholders to maintain real-time visibility into ongoing tasks.
- Follow MOPs meticulously, documenting execution notes, timestamp confirmations, and device responses to support reporting and analysis.
- Support rollback procedures when necessary to restore services during failed or interrupted changes.
- Troubleshoot issues arising during or after change implementation, escalating to Tier 3 SMEs as needed.
- Provide continuous feedback on procedural clarity and suggest improvements to enhance future execution accuracy.
- Collect root cause data for emerging issues and support ongoing process efficiency improvements.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in network operations, deployment, or telecom maintenance.
- Hands-on expertise with routing and switching equipment (Cisco, Nokia, Juniper, etc.).
- Familiarity with transport and optical network environments is preferred.
- Ability to interpret detailed MOPs, network diagrams, and configuration files accurately.
- Comfortable working during overnight maintenance windows in high-pressure, real-time environments.
- Excellent communication skills required for active participation in live maintenance bridges.
- Proven ability to operate independently and meticulously during scheduled network changes.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the capacity to quickly diagnose and resolve issues.
- Ability to work remotely, maintaining high standards of safety and communication.
Publishing Pay Range: $50.00 – $55.00 USD Hourly
This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
