Role Summary
This senior-level network engineering role involves designing, deploying, and managing large-scale enterprise and service provider networks in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will lead complex network projects from inception through implementation, leveraging extensive technical expertise and project management skills. The position requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting, automation, and ensuring optimal network performance and security across multi-site deployments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement large-scale, multisite enterprise or service provider network infrastructures.
  • Lead network deployment projects from planning and configuration to deployment and handover, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.
  • Support, troubleshoot, and optimize complex backbone networks, including peering, transit, and data center environments.
  • Develop custom automation tools and scripts, primarily using Python, to streamline network provisioning and configuration processes.
  • Manage and support carrier-grade networking technologies such as Cisco, Juniper, and Arista, including protocols like BGP, MPLS, ISIS, and IPsec.
  • Support and configure underlying LAN/WAN technologies and protocols, ensuring high availability and resilience.
  • Implement and maintain network automation and orchestration platforms like Ansible, Terraform, and Jenkins.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure network security, performance, and reliability requirements are met.
  • Provide mentorship and technical leadership within the network services team to improve operational efficiency.
  • Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for large-scale network operations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Network Engineer, with at least 3 years in a project engineering or lead role on large-scale deployments.
  • Extensive experience with TCP/IP (v4 and v6), BGP, MPLS, and in engineering large-scale enterprise/service provider networks.
  • Strong hands-on experience with carrier-grade networking vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, or Arista, and knowledge of protocols including ISIS, MPLS, and IPsec.
  • Proficiency in MacOS, Linux, or UNIX-based environments.
  • Working knowledge of DWDM Optical Transport technologies.
  • Solid understanding of LAN/WAN technologies, traffic engineering, and Internet routing policies.
  • Skilled in programming with Python and experienced with network automation tools like Netmiko, NAPALM, Scrapli, and REST APIs.
  • Experience with automation/orchestration platforms such as Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, and version control systems like Git.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in dynamic environments.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; advanced industry certifications preferred.
  • Availability for early morning or late-night calls as required.

Publishing Pay Range: $68.92 – $70.13 Hourly

This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
