Role Summary
This senior AWS Cloud Engineer and Cloud Implementation Lead plays a critical role in supporting cloud modernization, governance, and operational excellence for enterprise cloud platforms. The position involves hands-on technical implementation, overseeing day-to-day cloud operations, and leading migration and modernization initiatives within a highly secure environment. The role requires expertise in AWS infrastructure, security compliance, and cloud architecture to enable scalable, secure, and compliant cloud solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical implementation and deployment of AWS cloud environments, including provisioning and configuring resources using Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation and Terraform.
- Develop and maintain automation pipelines for deployment processes, enhancing operational efficiency and reliability.
- Design, build, and optimize cloud-native applications utilizing containerization, orchestration, and serverless architectures including Lambda and API Gateway.
- Configure logging, monitoring, metrics, alerting, and implement Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices to ensure high availability and performance.
- Produce detailed design documents, diagrams, and operational hand-over guides for cloud environments and applications.
- Support the setup and management of cloud security, including IAM roles, security groups, VPCs, and compliance with FedRAMP Moderate security standards.
- Automate repetitive tasks through scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell to streamline deployment and operational processes.
- Develop CI/CD pipelines to facilitate continuous integration and deployment of cloud applications.
- Collaborate with development, security, operations, and stakeholder teams to tailor cloud solutions aligned with security, compliance, and operational goals.
- Respond to incidents, troubleshoot issues, and maintain system health and security through log and metrics analysis, using tools like CloudWatch and Security Hub.
Qualifications
- This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required. (ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 8 years of experience in cloud infrastructure roles, with a minimum of 5 years specifically in AWS cloud engineering.
- Extensive hands-on experience designing AWS solutions, including VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, KMS, and networking services.
- Proficiency in scripting with Python, Bash, and PowerShell, with strong development experience in Python preferred.
- At least 3 years experience developing AWS policies as code and using AWS CLI.
- Familiarity with AWS security services such as GuardDuty, Security Hub, and Inspector.
- Knowledge of FedRAMP Moderate or equivalent security standards, including NIST 800-53 and 800-171 controls.
- Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing cloud-native, serverless architectures and containerization.
- Ability to work on-site in a secure environment.
Publishing Pay Range: $74.00 – $78.00 hourly
This is a fully remote role and can be performed from any approved location within the United States.
