Role Summary
A senior-level Test Automation Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated testing frameworks to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of complex applications. This role collaborates closely with software engineering, product teams, and other stakeholders to define testing strategies, implement advanced test cases, and foster continuous improvement throughout the testing lifecycle. The position requires technical expertise, an autonomous work style, and leadership to influence quality practices across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

  • Define automation test strategies and detailed plans aligned with product delivery goals and enterprise standards.
  • Design, develop, and sustain comprehensive UI, API, and integration test automation frameworks and suites.
  • Create, execute, and analyze complex test scenarios, including edge cases and failure modes, communicating findings to stakeholders.
  • Participate in system integration and validation activities to identify functional, performance, and reliability issues early in development cycles.
  • Establish and maintain internal quality standards, including regression and reliability programs, test data management, and traceability protocols.
  • Ensure adherence to industry and organizational standards related to security, accessibility, performance, and SDLC controls.
  • Identify systemic issues within testing processes, tooling, or environments and propose measurable improvements.
  • Offer actionable feedback and recommendations for product design and quality enhancements based on testing outcomes and defect analysis.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve testability, observability, and defect prevention methods.
  • Lead and mentor team members, influence best practices, and contribute to shared automation standards and frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience developing automated tests using TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, or C# for modern application stacks.
  • Hands-on expertise with front-end frameworks such as React, Next.js, or Angular, including component and UI testing methodologies.
  • Proficiency in modern testing tools and patterns, including Testing Library, UI automation, API testing, and contract testing.
  • Experience testing backend services and microservices, especially with Spring Boot and dependency management tools like Maven.
  • Skilled in designing repeatable, scalable test environments utilizing container technologies such as Test containers.
  • Ability to develop maintainable automation frameworks following best engineering practices including modularity, version control, and CI/CD integration.
  • Strong troubleshooting, defect isolation, and root cause analysis skills across UI, API, and environment layers.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve testing processes, define standards, and promote quality initiatives across teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating testing results into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted testing workflows and tools such as OpenCode, Claude Code, and Gemini Vertex AI to enhance test creation and analysis.

Publishing Pay Range: $55.00 – $56.00 hourly 
This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
