Role Summary
This role involves providing onsite technical support for data center operations, focusing on hardware installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The technician will work closely with remote engineering teams, vendors, and customers to ensure the continuous, reliable operation of critical infrastructure. This position requires hands-on experience in data center environments and adherence to established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Install, rack, stack, cabling, and decommission servers, network, and storage equipment in enterprise or government data centers.
  • Manage structured cabling, patch panels, cable routing, labeling, and documentation to ensure organized and efficient infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues across servers, storage, and network components under remote administrator guidance.
  • Conduct hardware replacements and upgrades, including hardware refreshes and migrations.
  • Coordinate with vendors, customers, and internal teams for asset management and service delivery.
  • Escort vendors and support vendor activities within the data center environment.
  • Maintain compliance with customer and facility policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Support physical infrastructure operations, including power and data cabling, in accordance with industry standards.
  • Participate in biweekly on-call rotations for after-hours and weekend support.
  • Document all activities accurately, ensuring detailed records of hardware, cabling, and configurations.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting hardware in data center environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of structured cabling, patch panel management, and documentation best practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot servers and hardware components efficiently and accurately.
  • Strong communication skills and organizational ability to coordinate activities among teams, vendors, and customers.
  • Availability to work on-site Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Experience with ticketing and asset management tools such as ServiceNow is preferred.
  • Familiarity with data center standards, power infrastructure, and change management processes is advantageous.
  • Ability to support infrastructure projects including hardware refreshes and migrations.
  • Must be able to work on-site.

Publishing Pay Range: $32.00 – $37.00 hourly
