Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer with extensive expertise in IPv6 technologies to lead our IPv6 assessment, design, and testing initiatives. This role involves overseeing the evaluation, planning, and implementation of advanced network solutions that leverage IPv6 protocols, ensuring seamless integration and optimal network performance. The ideal candidate will have proven experience with dual-stack environments, multicast routing, and Cisco platforms, supporting a secure transition to next-generation IP networking.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of existing network infrastructure to evaluate IPv6 readiness across routers, switches, firewalls, and end-host systems.
  • Identify gaps in current IPv4 configurations and develop a prioritized roadmap for IPv6 integration.
  • Perform audits of hardware and software compatibility for IPv6 support, including IOS/IOS-XE feature validation.
  • Document current network topology and deliver detailed findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Architect IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack solutions that ensure backward compatibility while enabling full IPv6 functionality.
  • Design scalable IPv6 addressing plans and multicast routing strategies.
  • Develop high-level and low-level network design documents, including topology diagrams, IP allocation schemes, and routing policy specifications.
  • Develop and execute test plans for IPv6 deployment scenarios, including dual-stack, tunneling, and translation mechanisms.
  • Perform lab-based proof-of-concept testing prior to production deployment, validating multicast functionality, routing protocols, and QoS policies.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues across dual-stack environments and provide root-cause analysis.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on IPv6 and multicast technologies, mentoring junior engineers and participating in change advisory board reviews.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive network engineering experience in enterprise or service provider environments.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with IPv6 addressing, routing, and migration strategies.
  • Proven experience designing and operating IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack networks.
  • Strong knowledge of multicast routing protocols (PIM-SM, IGMP, MLD) in both IPv4 and IPv6.
  • Cisco CCNP (Enterprise or Service Provider) certification and/or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proficiency with routing protocols such as OSPFv2/v3 and BGP (including IPv6 address families).
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching platforms.
  • Ability to produce clear, professional network design documents, test plans, and assessment reports.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and root-cause analysis capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Availability to work on-site five days a week.

Publishing Pay Range: $60.00 – $70.00 USD Hourly

This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
