Role Summary
This position supports enterprise database environments by maintaining the performance, availability, security, and reliability of critical database systems. The role provides technical expertise across database administration, architecture, maintenance, optimization, and troubleshooting. This position collaborates with development, infrastructure, and operations teams to support stable and scalable database environments.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain Oracle and SQL Server database environments.
- Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, and scripting solutions to support database performance and operational efficiency.
- Implement and maintain high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions, including Oracle Data Guard, Oracle RAC, Always On Availability Groups, and clustering technologies.
- Perform database backups, restores, upgrades, patches, and migrations in accordance with established procedures and best practices.
- Conduct performance tuning, index optimization, capacity planning, and database monitoring to support scalability and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues across production and non-production environments.
- Implement and maintain database security controls, including access management, auditing, and configuration hardening.
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure, operations, and other technical teams to design and support reliable database solutions.
- Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations, operational procedures, recovery processes, and troubleshooting guidelines.
Qualifications
- Relevant education, technical training, certifications, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience supporting enterprise Oracle, SQL Server, or comparable database environments.
- Proficiency with SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, database management tools, and scripting technologies such as PowerShell or Bash.
- Experience with high availability and disaster recovery technologies such as Oracle Data Guard, Oracle RAC, Always On Availability Groups, or comparable clustering solutions.
- Strong understanding of database security, backup and recovery strategies, performance optimization, and capacity management.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a remote team environment.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams.
Publishing Pay Range: $30.00 – $50.00 USD Hourly
This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
