Role Summary
This part-time System Administrator role involves supporting Windows desktop environments and network systems within a personnel testing lab. The position requires collaboration with cybersecurity teams to implement updates, patches, and maintain system security. The successful candidate will provide hands-on support during testing sessions and contribute to system documentation and authority to operate (ATO) processes.
Responsibilities
- Provide Windows desktop support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for Windows 11 OS on lab systems.
- Coordinate with cybersecurity teams to identify and implement updates, patches, and security configurations.
- Perform weekly, monthly, and on-demand updates to systems and air-gapped networks to maintain interim Authority To Test (IATT).
- Support and observe personnel testing sessions, capturing issues and troubleshooting in real-time.
- Execute data collection, download, and distribution procedures based on established protocols.
- Assist with documentation and artifacts to support Authority To Operate (ATO) package preparation.
- Conduct confirmation testing of systems based on provided plans and procedures to ensure readiness.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot hardware and network issues, including Cisco IOS switches and routers.
- Coordinate with cybersecurity personnel to gather artifacts, prepare reports, and support system security activities.
- Maintain accurate records of system updates, test results, and testing procedures to ensure compliance and traceability.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience with Windows 11 desktop OS or relevant education, training, certifications, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of experience in PC maintenance and troubleshooting.
- 2+ years of experience working with Cisco IOS switches and routers.
- 2+ years of LAN administration experience.
- Knowledge of security and system compliance standards, including RMF documentation.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience engaging with technical and senior personnel.
- This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.
- Certifications: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Net+, Microsoft, Cisco.
- Availability for part-time work, typically three days per week, on-site in Quantico, VA.
Publishing Pay Range: $40.00 – $45.00 hourly
This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
