Enhancing Wireless Connectivity Across Multiple
Locations
To support the seamless operation of their offices and warehouses, our client—a multinational retail corporation—undertook a significant network migration project to optimize wireless bandwidth and connectivity. Faced with resource constraints and the complexity of the project, they sought a trusted partner to ensure success. They turned to GDH for our expertise in workforce solutions and ability to provide the specialized talent needed to execute this large-scale initiative with precision and efficiency.
CHALLENGE:
The client’s goal of upgrading their wireless infrastructure presented numerous challenges that required careful navigation. One recurring issue involved ensuring security cameras were brought back online after each migration, a critical task for operational continuity. Communication further complicated the process, as different stakeholders across multiple locations had varying expectations and lacked alignment on the migration process. This inconsistency made it difficult to set clear expectations and maintain progress. Additionally, the client faced asset management difficulties, such as pre-existing device failures that had to be addressed within the scope of the project. To further complicate matters, coordinating with an external implementation partner added another layer of complexity to the already intricate project.
SOLUTION:
To address these challenges, GDH provided an experienced team who implemented a structured and proactive approach to the project. They established scheduled touchpoints with inventory managers to confirm the availability of equipment and identify site-specific needs. This process resulted in detailed inventory lists that were shared with implementation partners, ensuring the accuracy of the Bill of Materials for each location. Recognizing the importance of clear communication, the GDH team utilized multiple channels to engage with stakeholders and set realistic expectations about the migration process. By proactively coordinating with all parties involved before arriving onsite, potential disruptions were minimized which ensured a streamlined workflow.
RESULT:
Phase 1 of this project focused on initial office and warehouse site upgrades to modernize the client’s wireless infrastructure. Building on this foundation, Phase 2 successfully upgraded 53 locations, including offices and warehouses, and delivered significant improvements in wireless connectivity and network performance. Phase 3, currently underway, involves 60 additional sites and continues to enhance the client’s network capabilities. The overall initiative plans to expand further during Phases 4 and 5, leading to a total of 300 sites expected upon completion.
The upgraded equipment resulted in enhanced wireless bandwidth, providing faster speeds and more reliable connectivity across all sites. Additionally, the modernized network infrastructure strengthened security measures, aligning with the client’s operational and compliance needs. Through GDH’s partnership, the client successfully established a scalable and future-proof wireless network, enabling greater efficiency and reliability across their organization.
