Job Description:
Our client is seeking a skilled Systems Administrator for a contract-to-hire position, ideally situated within the DFW area. The role is designed to backfill a position due to internal movement within a team that focuses on maintaining and enhancing the IT infrastructure across multiple data centers. This opportunity is perfect for a proactive and self-motivated professional who thrives in a team-oriented environment. The initial contract duration is 6 months with a potential extension.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to IT support tickets escalated from Tier 1 support based in India, managing disk space, backup failures, patching, and conducting regular health checks.
- Proactively manage and spin up new servers as required by organizational needs.
- Lead and participate in projects such as VMware upgrades, policy implementations for network segmentation, and role-based access control improvements.
- Perform hands-on maintenance tasks, including hardware racking and configuring endpoint tools like Kolumio.
- Maintain a robust and secure IT environment across 3 data centers with a heavy VM and Windows Server footprint.
- Engage with limited but growing cloud environments including Azure, AWS, Snowflake, and Salesforce to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
Qualifications:
- Strong experience in Windows Server administration.
- Proficient with VMware or general virtualization technologies (Hyper-V experience is also acceptable).
- Good understanding of Active Directory and its functionalities.
- Basic knowledge of networking and firewall configurations.
- Familiarity with cloud services (Azure, AWS) is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work autonomously without micromanagement and comfortable in a shared responsibility culture.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work proactively as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with other team members and support staff.
- Must be located in or willing to relocate to the DFW area.
