Job Description:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to join their team. This role requires expertise in network configuration and troubleshooting across a variety of technologies including Nexus switches, Palo Alto and Firepower firewalls, and Cisco Wireless Controllers. The successful candidate will work within a standard 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM schedule in Alaska time, with availability for occasional night or weekend projects as needed. Responsibilities:
  • Configure and troubleshoot Nexus switches to ensure seamless network functionality.
  • Manage and optimize Palo Alto and Firepower firewall settings to maintain secure network operations.
  • Oversee the configuration of Cisco Wireless Controllers and troubleshoot wireless connectivity issues (802.11).
  • Utilize Cisco Spaces, Routers & Switches for various network setups and problem resolutions.
  • Perform advanced VPN debugging and troubleshooting to ensure reliable remote access.
  • Analyze PCAP files and logs to diagnose network issues and improve performance.
  • Work with Cherwell software for ticket management, addressing open problems or progressing project tickets efficiently.

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience with Nexus switch configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability to manage and configure Palo Alto and/or Firepower firewalls.
  • Expertise in managing Cisco Wireless Controllers and troubleshooting wireless networks.
  • Strong understanding of Cisco network technologies including Routers, Switches, and DNA.
  • Experience with VPN troubleshooting and debugging.
  • Proficient in PCAP and log analysis for network diagnostics.
  • Ability to work within the specified hours and flexibility to support after-hours project requirements as needed.
  • Experience using Cherwell or similar ITSM tools for ticket management.
  • Desirable: Experience with Cisco Collaboration, Webex/Call Manager, Cisco Contact Center, Cisco Umbrella, ThousandEyes, SD-WAN, and cloud technologies.
  • Desirable: Familiarity with Linux operating systems.

Pay Range: $55.00 – $60.00 Hourly

This position is based in office and requires the employee to work on-site.
