We are currently seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer for an 18-month contract position. This role involves supporting the operational technology team of a leading enterprise in the energy sector. The ideal candidate will have a robust technical background in network infrastructure, including routing, switching, and firewall technologies. This position offers a hybrid working model, allowing for a blend of in-office and remote work to best support project needs and enhance productivity.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor network health and performance across various operational sites to ensure optimal uptime and quickly respond to any connectivity or performance issues.
  • Implement and maintain network configurations and compliance, utilizing standard templates aligned with network design principles and corporate standards.
  • Participate in the installation, configuration, and commissioning of network equipment at new and existing facilities, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption.
  • Conduct thorough log reviews and network audits to identify and rectify recurring issues or potential vulnerabilities, improving overall network reliability.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including network diagrams, IP address schemes, and configuration records to support network operations and troubleshooting.
  • Leverage automation tools to streamline network configuration and deployment processes, enhancing efficiency and reducing manual errors.
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration with other engineering and operations teams to support network expansions, upgrades, and other project-related activities.
  • Provide technical support and guidance during pilot testing of new network solutions in lab environments to ensure compatibility and performance standards are met before full-scale deployment.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience with industrial or operational networks, particularly within the energy, utilities, manufacturing, or transportation sectors.
  • Strong foundation in network technologies including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Proficient in using configuration management and automation tools such as Python, Ansible, Nornir, or similar.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation and configuration management.
  • Experience in network security practices, including audits, patching, and compliance checks.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of conveying complex information in an understandable manner.
  • Availability to participate in periodic on-call rotations to support critical network operations outside of standard business hours.
  • Legal right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Pay Range: $40.00 – $55.00 Per Hour

This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
