Job Description:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role involves configuring and designing Ethernet Private Line (EPL) and Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) Layer 2 services, as well as supporting network operations, and capacity planning. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining and expanding the company’s carrier ethernet network.

Responsibilities:
  • Configure Ethernet Private Line (EPL) and Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) Layer 2 services on various network equipment using Command Line Interface (CLI) or Element Manager Systems (EMS).
  • Participate in conference calls with customers, Network Operations Center (NOC), and Last Mile Providers (LMP) for the Test & Turn-Up Process of Layer 2 services, including MAC-SWAP-LOOPs and TCP/IP Ping commands.
  • Keep a comprehensive circuit inventory database updated and manage Design Layout Records with Microsoft Visio, along with Service Orders in Salesforce to ensure all customer information is current.
  • Design point-to-point EPL/EVPL Layer 2 services utilizing existing Network to Network Interfaces (NNIs) and establish new NNIs and Partner agreements when necessary.
  • Consult with vendors to determine technical capabilities of network equipment for future growth and expansion of the carrier ethernet network, including handling Request for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Analyze NetFlow and ethernet flow domain traffic for capacity planning to optimize network infrastructure and ensure exceptional customer service.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in configuring and designing EPL and EVPL Layer 2 services.
  • Strong proficiency with Cisco Routers and Switches, Ciena Switches, and Accedian NODE/NID equipment.
  • Experience with Command Line Interface (CLI) and Element Manager Systems (EMS).
  • Ability to effectively participate and facilitate conference calls with various stakeholders.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Visio and Salesforce for designing and documentation purposes.
  • Knowledgeable in analyzing traffic data for network capacity planning using tools like Science Logic or EM7.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.

Pay Range: $25.00 – $30.00 Hourly

This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
