Engineering Manager
Job Description:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Manager to lead and oversee the engineering operations in a highly reputable organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a dynamic team of engineers, optimizing manufacturing processes, and spearheading R&D initiatives to meet strategic business objectives. This role requires a seasoned leader with a strong background in mechanical, chemical, or materials science engineering, capable of driving innovation and efficiency. The position is full-time and based in Virginia, with the need for occasional travel to industry events and trade shows.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct management to the engineering team, setting clear objectives and metrics, and establishing accountability mechanisms.
- Enhance team performance through hands-on leadership, coaching, and training, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.
- Collaborate with Operations Managers to refine manufacturing processes for improved productivity, quality, and cost-efficiency.
- Guide R&D teams in the development of new products and technologies that align with strategic company goals.
- Plan and manage departmental budgets, production schedules, and resource allocations, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and business objectives.
- Analyze operational data to identify opportunities for process improvements and resource optimization.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory, safety, and environmental standards across engineering activities.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to drive business growth and innovation in alignment with market trends and customer needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in progressively responsible engineering roles, with at least 5 years in a managerial capacity.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop high-performing teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools and experience with MRP systems.
- Knowledge of 5S and Lean Manufacturing concepts.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
- Experience in writing technical proposals and managing project portfolios.
- Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field and/or 10+ years of managerial experience.
