Job Description:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled GMS Support Engineer with expertise in GE eTerra systems to join their dynamic team. This technical role involves supporting the configuration, maintenance, and operational processes of their Grid Management System (GMS). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SCADA model updates, switch order management, and system administration on both server and client sides. This full-time position is remote, allowing for flexibility and convenience in your working environment.
Responsibilities:
- Configure and maintain GE eTerra systems, including managing both server and client environments.
- Monitor GMS operations continuously, responding promptly to system alerts and anomalies to ensure system integrity and reliability.
- Perform comprehensive troubleshooting across various server-side components, communication interfaces, and user applications to diagnose and resolve issues.
- Execute SCADA model updates effectively, including the addition and modification of telemetry points, statuses, and remote control elements.
- Support the creation, validation, and lifecycle management of switch orders within the GMS to ensure operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to ensure the GMS accurately represents operational data and system configurations.
- Document all configurations, changes, and troubleshooting steps in accordance with operational standards and procedures.
- Participate in an on-call rotation or provide after-hours support as needed to maintain system performance and reliability.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with GE eTerra or a comparable GMS/EMS platform.
- Strong understanding of SCADA principles and grid operations.
- Demonstrated experience with switch order creation, tracking, and execution workflows.
- Proficiency in managing both Windows and Linux server environments.
- Familiarity with the front-end user tools and back-end architecture of GE eTerra systems.
- Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams and telemetry specifications.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Preferred: Experience with GE eTerra Data Dictionary or equivalent modeling tools.
- Preferred: Prior experience supporting a utility-controlled room environment.
- Knowledge of NERC CIP or utility compliance standards is advantageous.
Pay Range: $60.00 to $65.00 per hour
This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
