Role Summary
This senior-level Instrumentation & Electrical Designer role involves leading design and drafting activities for complex engineering projects in an industrial environment. The position requires extensive experience in CADD software, project coordination, and technical design, ensuring project activities align with industry standards and company procedures. The role offers responsibility for managing electrical and instrument design tasks critical to project success, including client interactions, technical documentation, and vendor communications.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate project design and drafting management to ensure timely and accurate completion of all project-related activities.
- Assign electrical equipment and instrument tagging numbers, conduit and cable identifiers, and resolve drawing development issues.
- Draft and develop process flow diagrams (PFD), piping & instrument diagrams (P&ID), equipment layouts, plot plans, and equipment/instrument lists for construction projects.
- Assist in creating project scopes and defining engineering, design, and construction work portions for client contracts.
- Participate in project meetings to gather client requirements, clarify scope, and provide technical input for effective design solutions.
- Review work schedules and man-hour estimates to promote efficient project execution and resource allocation.
- Coordinate design package distribution among stakeholders, ensuring all technical information is shared and integrated effectively.
- Generate parts lists, perform material take-offs, and develop material data sheets to support procurement and project timelines.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of technical design issues, correspondence, and project records throughout project phases.
- Collaborate with vendors, project managers, and engineering teams to ensure material availability, proper specifications, and compliance with project requirements.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent; two-year college drafting degree, technical school training, or related experience in CADD drafting software and processes.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a Project Engineering or similar environment.
- Extensive senior-level experience in drafting, electrical equipment specification, and project design management.
- Proven ability to develop electrical and instrument drawings in accordance with industry standards and company procedures.
- Strong understanding of process flow diagrams, P&ID, equipment layouts, and facility plot plans.
- Excellent communication skills for technical coordination with vendors, contractors, and project teams.
- Ability to travel by air or automobile to project sites as required.
- Demonstrated expertise in creating and managing detailed technical documentation and project reports.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Publishing Pay Range: $70.00 – $75.00 hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
