Infrastructure Cabling Engineer
Job Description:
Our client is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Infrastructure Cabling Engineer to join their team. This position is ideal for someone with a deep understanding of designing, installing, servicing, and maintaining low voltage cable infrastructure systems. The role involves significant interaction with various internal groups to manage and oversee infrastructure projects efficiently. This full-time position is based in the Bay Area and involves on-site work with some flexibility for remote operations as projects dictate.
Responsibilities:
- Design and architect TR spaces considering building size and IT requirements to ensure efficient space utilization and infrastructure setup.
- Conduct mechanical evaluations including HVAC sizing based on IT equipment specifications to maintain optimal operating conditions.
- Develop electrical plans such as UPS sizing and pathway design tailored to specific IT needs.
- Create detailed cabling Statements of Work (SOW) for backbone, horizontal cabling including fiber, copper, and specialty types.
- Perform comprehensive site assessments to design schematic structures and provide accurate estimations for project planning.
- Lead the IT design process through the phases of Design Development and Construction Documents for follow-on engineering tasks.
- Manage on-site quality inspections to ensure all installations meet our rigorous standards and client expectations.
- Generate and maintain accurate documentation for both upcoming and current projects to ensure consistency and reliability across all operations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in designing, installing, servicing, and maintaining structured cable distribution systems.
- Proficiency with engineering software packages such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Solidworks.
- Manufacturer-specific experience and/or certifications preferred (e.g., Commscope, BICSI, Panduit, Hubbell, Corning, Leviton, AV).
- Strong knowledge of terminology related to telecom, data, security, and wireless system cabling infrastructures.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to perform and oversee site assessments, providing recommendations to upgrade facilities to current standards.
- Demonstrated ability to create and manage comprehensive documentation and project plans.
- Capability to consult and coordinate with various groups such as NFS, CPFC, CDTS, ITC, Security, and Local Facilities on infrastructure projects.
- Availability to travel to different sites within the Bay Area as required by project demands.
