Job Title: Mechanical Designer IV 

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled, self-motivated Mechanical Designer IV to join our dynamic engineering team. In this strategic role, you will leverage your extensive experience in piping and mechanical design to lead complex projects, deliver innovative solutions, and ensure exceptional service delivery. The ideal candidate is a proactive team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of coordinating multidisciplinary efforts and driving projects to successful completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive engineering drawing packages, including layout, assembly, detailed drawings, and sketches, ensuring precision and clarity.
  • Create and refine 3D models for piping systems, custom components, equipment, structural elements, and piping facilities using industry-standard CAD tools.
  • Collaborate closely with design engineers to accurately translate conceptual designs into detailed CAD models.
  • Lead CAD projects by coordinating project sessions, managing deliverables, and ensuring adherence to timelines.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including schedules, resource allocation, and milestone tracking.
  • Perform engineering assessments, calculations, data collection, and analyses to support design decisions.
  • Generate isometric piping drawings and detailed layouts of custom pipe fittings for construction and fabrication.
  • Coordinate and execute as-built project updates, including field verifications, sketches, and documentation.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact with clients for drafting and project management, ensuring clear communication and expectations.
  • Provide support for multi-disciplinary design efforts across facilities engineering disciplines, including electrical and structural.
  • Prepare and verify 2D and 3D construction documentation packages, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in piping or mechanical design, with a strong portfolio of complex projects.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software including AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks, Bluebeam Revu, Cadworx Suite, ProCad, Lisp routines, and MS Office Suite.
  • Solid understanding of industry standards and codes such as ASME, ANSI, API, and CSA.
  • Demonstrated expertise in mechanical, piping, electrical, and structural design and drafting.
  • Proven project management skills, with experience scheduling, resource planning, and guiding project teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of leading teams and liaising effectively with clients.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a strategic mindset focused on delivering innovative solutions.
  • Service-oriented with a keen attention to detail and quality.

Education & Certifications:

  • Associate Degree in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Certified Engineering Technologist (ASET) certification.
  • Training in Project Management and proficiency with MS Projects.
  • ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code certification.
