Role Summary
A highly experienced SME Systems Engineer specializing in Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) is responsible for managing and maintaining the MECM environment to ensure operational readiness across the enterprise. This role involves deploying, monitoring, and optimizing endpoint management systems, as well as executing advanced troubleshooting and automation tasks. The position requires a strong technical foundation and the ability to coordinate across teams to support enterprise-wide system health and security compliance.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the MECM infrastructure to ensure endpoint availability and system health across the organization.
- Deploy and monitor software packages, security updates, and patches to keep systems current and operational.
- Execute and maintain task sequences for automated operating system deployments, focusing on imaging consistency and hardware compatibility.
- Operate and validate updates within dedicated test environments before production rollout.
- Conduct daily patch management activities, including scheduling and resolving deployment failures.
- Monitor endpoint compliance and remediate issues to ensure adherence to security policies and standards.
- Perform troubleshooting for MECM client health, software distribution errors, and imaging failures.
- Use PowerShell scripting to automate administrative tasks and improve endpoint management efficiency.
- Maintain detailed records of system configurations, procedures, and maintenance activities.
- Generate and analyze reports on deployment status, hardware inventory, and compliance metrics.
Qualifications
- High School diploma with 10+ years of related experience or equivalent.
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+).
- Extensive hands-on experience managing MECM environments in large-scale enterprise settings.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server platforms (2012–2025), Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS.
- Experience with Windows imaging, task sequences, and driver management.
- Proficiency with VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Advanced PowerShell scripting skills for automation and management.
- Experience building and maintaining lab/test environments for validation and troubleshooting.
- Proven ability to manage patch cycles, update deployments, and compliance reporting.
- Excellent communication skills for technical discussions and stakeholder coordination.
- This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required.
Publishing Pay Range: $50.00 – $55.00 hourly
This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
