Role Summary
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for leading large-scale campus network deployments, including planning, design refinement, configuration development, and deployment readiness activities. This role requires onsite presence at a headquarters location in Austin, TX, with a focus on developing standardized configurations, validating designs, and ensuring field teams are prepared for successful migrations. The position combines technical expertise with documentation discipline, cross-functional coordination, and strategic planning to ensure efficient network upgrades and implementations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end deployment planning for SD-Access Fabric replacement networks, translating High-Level Designs (HLDs) into detailed Low-Level Designs (LLDs).
  • Develop and execute phased IPv4-to-IPv6 migration strategies, including dual-stack, phased transition, or full-native IPv6 deployments.
  • Create scalable, repeatable site deployment models and identify technical risks with mitigation strategies prior to cutovers.
  • Establish validation criteria and success metrics for each deployment phase, ensuring project milestones are met.
  • Refine standardized configuration templates for SD-Access Fabric underlay and overlay routing, segmentation, QoS, and application-aware routing.
  • Author detailed Method of Procedure (MOP) documents and deployment runbooks, including rollback procedures and validation checklists, to guide field engineers.
  • Provide real-time technical oversight and remote support during site cutovers, reviewing feedback and refining deployment processes accordingly.
  • Review and approve change requests, ensuring compliance with architecture and security standards, and maintain comprehensive documentation of design and configurations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for deployment methodologies based on field feedback and evolving best practices.
  • Support and document network automation efforts, including scripting and zero-touch provisioning to streamline deployments.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of enterprise networking experience with a strong understanding of complex network architectures.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with SD-Access Fabric architecture, including designing and deploying scalable campus networks.
  • Proven track record in leading IPv6 migration initiatives within production environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of BGP (policy design, route control, redistribution), OSPF multi-area design, EVPN-VXLAN, and software-defined campus solutions.
  • Skilled in supporting large-scale multi-site rollouts with 50+ sites.
  • Experience with network automation tools such as Python, Ansible, or Terraform.
  • Familiarity with routing, switching, wireless, and firewall solutions, particularly Cisco, Arista, Palo Alto Networks, and Open Gear.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNP R&S or equivalent are preferred.
  • Strong technical documentation, systems-level thinking, and risk anticipation capabilities.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to provide leadership without direct authority.
  • Availability for occasional after-hours participation and limited travel focused on planning, validation, and oversight activities.
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired must verify their identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
