Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join their team. This role is crucial for providing operational support and a variety of networking services that ensure the company's technology infrastructure runs smoothly. The Network Engineer will be instrumental in troubleshooting, monitoring, and designing network systems to optimize performance and ensure security. This position is full-time and based in the United States, requiring occasional travel for training and project implementation.
Responsibilities:
- Provide proactive network troubleshooting, monitoring, and issue resolution.
- Respond to open tickets and manage email requests regarding network issues.
- Design and implement network configurations at Layer2 and Layer3 to meet business needs.
- Maintain and update technical documentation and network diagrams.
- Conduct inventory and asset management to ensure all network components are accounted for and functioning.
- Monitor network performance and set up alerts to maintain network efficiency and security.
- Assist with the network aspects of service delivery and client turn-up processes.
- Use proper escalation procedures for issues beyond scope of expertise, ensuring timely resolution and follow-up.
Qualifications:
- Proven knowledge and experience with Cisco IOS-XR, MPLS, and BGP.
- Familiarity with Ciena DWDM, Accedian NODEs/NIDs, and network testing protocols such as RFC2544 and Y.1564 preferred.
- Strong understanding of Layer2 Ethernet and Layer3 Routing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot network issues.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a telecommunications environment or related field.
- At least 2 years of combined experience in technical support and business operations.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively without supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on providing exceptional service internally and externally.
