Job Description:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Support Specialist to join their IT team. This role involves providing advanced network support services to enhance staff capabilities for both project work and routine operational tasks. The position is crucial for maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge in various network technologies and systems, particularly Cisco and Palo Alto Networks products. This is a contract position with the potential for a term of up to four years, operating within standard business hours from Monday to Friday, aligned with Eastern Time.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert configuration and troubleshooting support for Cisco hardware including switches and routers.
  • Manage and optimize Palo Alto Next Generation Firewalls and Cisco ISE implementations.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive infrastructure documentation for support, compliance, and disaster recovery purposes.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the IT team, offering guidance and leadership on network-related projects and decisions.
  • Design and support network architectures involving technologies such as MPLS, Private IP, TLS, and SIP.
  • Handle Data Center technologies including storage solutions (FC, FCIP), virtualization environments (VMWare), Nexus, and Cisco UCS.
  • Lead and support proof-of-concept efforts to test new network technologies and solutions before full-scale implementation.

Qualifications:
  • Cisco certifications are mandatory.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in network engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience specifically with Palo Alto NGFW.
  • Proven ability to create and manage detailed technical documentation.
  • Availability to work standard business hours in Eastern Time and participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience with wireless networking, MPLS, Private IP, TLS, and SIP is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies and Data Center operations including Nexus and Cisco UCS.
