Role Summary
A Senior Datadog Engineer and architect responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex enterprise software systems. This role involves leading technical projects, implementing scalable architectures, and guiding junior team members. The position requires deep expertise in software development, cloud automation, observability solutions, and project leadership to ensure high-quality, reliable software delivery within a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, robust software architectures that meet complex business requirements.
- Write efficient, maintainable code across multiple programming languages including Python, Bash, PowerShell, and YAML.
- Lead development efforts for large projects, ensuring adherence to best practices, code quality, and performance standards.
- Develop and operationalize observability strategies using Datadog for applications, infrastructure, cloud, and security monitoring.
- Architect dashboards, monitors, and alerting frameworks tailored to operational and business needs.
- Conduct thorough code reviews, providing feedback to promote best practices and foster team growth.
- Lead deployment and configuration of Datadog agents, integrations, and APIs across hybrid and multi-cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, GCP, and on-premises data centers.
- Integrate Datadog with CI/CD pipelines, logging systems, and collaboration tools, including Slack, ServiceNow, and Jira.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues to optimize system performance, reliability, and security.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, participating in technical decision-making, project planning, and knowledge sharing initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or 9 years of experience with a high school diploma.
- Willingness to obtain Datadog APM and Distributed Tracing Fundamentals Certification.
- Proven hands-on experience with Python, Bash, PowerShell, YAML, and automation scripting.
- Strong experience with Datadog infrastructure and application performance monitoring and synthetic tracing.
- Demonstrated experience as a Cloud DevOps and Automation Engineer.
- Proficiency with version control systems such as Git, AWS CodeCommit, and SVN, including branching strategies.
- Knowledge of DevOps principles and CI/CD pipeline implementation and integration.
- Skilled in assessing risks and technical opportunities through strong analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with technical and non-technical teams.
- Ability to learn rapidly and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
- Leadership qualities to motivate teams, set goals, and drive projects to successful completion.
- This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required. (Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust 6C clearance).
Publishing Pay Range: $95.00 – $100.00 hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
