Job Description:
Our client is seeking a dedicated Smart Hands Technician to support a significant industrial IT environment buildout. This role is pivotal in providing technical assistance for infrastructure deployment, hardware installation, and troubleshooting. Based on-site, the successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the operational integrity of data center components. This position requires a proactive approach to system management and an eagerness to work in a dynamic construction setting. The role is located at the Micron ID1 fabrication facility and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a large-scale project.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute rack and stack operations for servers, switches, and other critical IT hardware.
  • Ensure proficient cable management and adherence to labeling standards including Cat6 and fiber optics.
  • Conduct basic network troubleshooting including ping tests and port checks.
  • Perform hardware diagnostics and replace components such as memory, drives, and power supplies as needed.
  • Utilize ticketing systems effectively to track progress and document issues.
  • Coordinate with vendors and remote engineering teams to ensure smooth deployment of IT infrastructure.
  • Follow detailed site diagrams, patch plans, and deployment checklists to meet technical specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in compliance with company and site-specific policies.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in IT hardware installation and maintenance within data center or industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of network cabling standards and best practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic network issues and perform component diagnostics.
  • Experience with industrial IT operations and construction or buildout environments preferred.
  • Technical proficiency with systems hardware, including servers and network devices.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting technical documentation and site plans.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with remote teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on system reliability and quality assurance.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and job priorities.
