Team Lead CAD Engineer
Job Description:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled CAD Engineer Team Lead to join their dynamic team. This full-time position is based in their state-of-the-art facility in Morgan Hill, California, nestled in the heart of Silicon Valley. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of CAD Engineers, driving innovation in motor design and development, and overseeing the creation of new motor assemblies. This role is ideal for a candidate who combines strong technical expertise with exceptional leadership skills, aimed at optimizing manufacturing processes and enhancing product quality and reliability.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of CAD Engineers, fostering professional growth and providing technical guidance.
- Design and develop innovative motor products, including creating 3D CAD models and technical drawings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient part design, tooling, and production.
- Manage the generation of detailed technical drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and documentation.
- Conduct design reviews, feasibility assessments, and first-article inspections to ensure product quality and compliance.
- Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) initiatives.
- Oversee Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and maintain accurate documentation of design modifications.
- Act as a key technical resource for manufacturing teams, providing insights and troubleshooting assistance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Proven experience in product design, CAD modeling, and overseeing manufacturing processes.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as Inventor, SolidWorks, Autodesk, Pro/E, or similar mechanical design tools.
- Experience with 3D modeling, simulation tools, and motion control technologies is preferred.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes like die casting, injection molding, machining, and stamping.
- Excellent project management skills, capable of driving projects to completion within set deadlines.
- Superior problem-solving, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and leadership skills, with a track record of mentoring teams or leading project groups.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project).
