Role Summary
The Director of Data Management and Governance is a senior leadership position responsible for establishing and executing the enterprise-wide data governance strategy. This role oversees initiatives related to data quality, metadata management, stewardship, and compliance, ensuring that data practices support organizational objectives. The position requires strategic oversight, vendor and tool selection, and the promotion of a data driven culture across all business units.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data management and governance strategy aligned with enterprise goals.
- Lead initiatives to embed data governance, quality, and stewardship practices throughout the organization.
- Establish and oversee governance structures such as councils, stewardship groups, and domain ownership bodies.
- Promote organizational adoption of data governance policies and practices through effective change management.
- Define, monitor, and enhance enterprise-wide data quality standards, metrics, and remediation processes.
- Implement and optimize metadata management strategies with automation for lineage, classification, and discoverability.
- Manage tools and platforms supporting data validation, exception handling, and continuous improvement processes.
- Collaborate with cloud, AI, and compliance teams to automate governance workflows and address audit requirements.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations through robust data practices.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to teams focused on data governance, data quality, and related functions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or enterprise information architecture.
- Proven success in leading enterprise data governance programs and organizational transformation.
- Deep knowledge of metadata, data quality, stewardship frameworks, and compliance standards such as DCAM and DAMA.
- Hands-on experience with AWS data services and automation tools, including Gen AI and agentic AI solutions for data governance.
- Relevant certifications such as CDMP, DCAM Certification, AWS Certified Data Analytics or Solutions Architect, PMP, or Agile Certification are preferred.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and change leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, innovative, and fast-paced environment.
Publishing Pay Range: $150,000 – $225,000 annually
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
